Two and a half months passed since the superintendent at Skovbjerg Park in November 2020 got the idea to extend the housing offer with a modular housing from Njordrum Care until a contract had been signed, the building permit had been applied for and granted, the module was produced, and ready for installation in Ikast.
On a cold evening in the middle of January, the 17-ton heavy dwelling arrived by special transport to Ikast. When the residence was hoisted into place that same evening, it attracted quite a few spectators. It was impressive to see the precision worked with by the crane operator and other fitters on the site. A week later, there was light in the windows, the underfloor heating was up and running — and life had come to life in the house.
Herning Folkeblad was on the stain:”A few years ago, Skovbjerg Park in Ikast had to be built to the existing homes in order to make the waiting list come to life. Now they have built again, but in a different way.” Link to the Arctic
Fast factory and municipality
“This time we have made an extension as a flexible housing purchased through the company Njordrum Care. The ABC Pavilloner factory in Engesvang has been responsible for the manufacture of the house. The dwelling is characterized by being movable, but does not appear to be what is commonly understood as a 'pavilion', as the name of the factory might suggest', narrator, Kai Kirkeby, who heads Skovbjerg Park and STU, in a press release.
“The house is made in a contemporary design and you have to look carefully to see that it is removable. It is said that the residence will be able to cope with being moved four times over a 20-year period. As it stands right now, however, there are no plans for the residence to be moved, but the opportunity is there”, says Kai Kirkeby.
The idea to acquire the new home arose in November.
“There has been swift action on this project. This applies not only to the proceedings in the municipality - with obtaining a building permit and handling it in the Health and Care Committee and the City Council - but also to the fabrication of the dwelling, where craftsmen have worked around the clock”, says Kai Kirkeby. “This may not be the last time the block truck will visit Hagelskärvej”.
“At Skovbjerg Park we see many possibilities with this type of housing. It is associated with great flexibility to establish in this way”, says Kai Kirkeby. “As mentioned, the housing can be moved as needed. They can be built together with several flexible homes, if that is what is needed - and yes, then they can be established detached, as this new residence at Skovbjerg Park is. In the longer term, it may be possible to imagine establishing housing for the elderly according to this concept, just as, conversely, it will also be possible to create an environment for young people. The possibilities are many and can be adapted to the needs”, says the manager. He also highlights that the solution provides a flexibility that makes it possible to quickly match demand for seats.
